This philosophy was born out of a concern for life and an appreciation for the importance of practical reason and a person's ability to live a morally sound life. This philosophy is often presented as if it were some sort of otherworldly universal truth; this is probably one of the reasons that so many people are drawn to it.The first philosophy paper topics, to introduce students to Kant, were relatively similar to those that were being read about in American History textbooks. In fact, there were so many lessons that were taught in those days that some of the lessons that were mentioned were largely forgotten and eventually disappeared from the curriculum. While it is difficult to imagine that many people today will be teaching these classes at colleges and universities, it is important to remember that these classes did take pl ace and that they taught things that are still considered necessary today.The first Kant lecture was given by the Emperor and Kaiser of Germany, Wilhelm II and Frederick the Great. Both men were educated by their schools and later went on to become monarchs. Even though the Kaiser spent his youth in a POW camp and spent his time under the tutelage of an order of monks, he would still have had a good grasp of Kant's philosophy.They met to discuss some of the more common principles that were taught in these types of classes. They discussed whether there were a moral right and wrong and why certain actions were wrong and what one needed to do to move toward moral goodness. Also discussed was the difference between a conception of good. The discussions centered on justification, which is the process by which a person gets to decide what actions are right or wrong based on a set of beliefs or rules.Right and wrong is an area that was quite popular back then. Many people at the time belie ved that what was right and what was wrong should be based on personal moral beliefs. While this was sometimes the case, this was not always the case. A person's code of ethics became more complex, until most people did not know who to believe or whom to trust.When the Emperor and Kaiser first met, they were discussing the concept of liberty and how people could flourish and build up a good society. While at first the meeting was just a normal conversation, they got to discussing moral and legal rights and liberties. Later on, the topic of being forced to remain in Germany led to discussions about what a person should do when faced with being forced to obey the laws. As the two kingdoms came into conflict, the discussions about basic rights and liberties took on more importance.There are many common philosophy concepts that are covered in lectures today and they include ethical treatment of others, duty, authority, and the human capacity for reason. There are many different teachers that will focus on the use of reason and debate as they work with a group of students. A philosophy teacher may teach many different students on different topics that can help them understand the principles of Kant.It is important to remember that what was taught about Kant during the past can be easily taught today and this is because there is much more of a concern for the well being of human beings than there was at one time. There is no one who can get in to what was taught during the times of those who gave lectures on this philosophy. By studying what was written and taught by teachers and professors, a person can learn to live a morally sound life.
